Hello Truth

Active listening has been a useful tool over the last few weeks. I have used it at home, in the exam room, and taught it to my staff. I have learned that it requires a lot of attention to the person which means not paying attention to my watch or phone. I agree with Paul- my main barrier is my desire for efficiency and these conversations often take more time. What I am learning is the time invested in active listening actually saves more time in the long run because I have a better understanding of that person. I can communicate more effectively and sometimes my styles have to change. I also have learned that my family and my staff are more willing to implement this when they see it modeled in me.

Best
