Truth,

    I have been traveling and now I’m getting caught up on assignments. One of my favorite stories to illustrate the need to give specific feed back that provides the situation, the behavior and the impact, is a dad tells his son if you run around that corner again I’m going to spank you. The son runs around the corner and he spanks his son. The son is crying and asks his dad , “what is a corner?”  This gives an example of a S-B-I that missed the mark.
   I work very hard to give feedback that tells them the specific behavior and how it makes an impact. I had an employees go out after the tornado they came thru the edge of town earlier this year and help people secure and weather in their properties . We just received a thank you note from the customer saying how much they love Landmark  and its team. They were just amazed how we showed up so fast to help and bring so many people to get lots of work done.
   I told the employee remember when I had you drop everything and round up a bunch of guys to help our customers that had storm damage from the tornado. He said yes I’ll never forget that day . I told him his actions of being there when people are in need has left a big impact with those he helped. The customer just sent a nice thank you letter about how appreciative she is and how amazing he was during their time of need. I told him it is real important to our business to get repeat business and his actions insured we will get another sale from her if they ever move again.
