My "walk the talk" gaps used to be canyons at times but now they are more like ravines. Still a problem to cross but not as far to go. Being more aware of the end goal (guiding principles) exposes the gaps but also serves as a compass to move in the right direction.

Like others, I notice that I fall into the gap most often when I'm just not feeling great, usually just tired or impatient. Yesterday, I caught myself and thought, "OK, instead of saying something grumpy right now, push for something better." I managed to say something positive and at least one small step backward was avoided.
