One of our new hires was faced with a challenge at conference. With it being a new environment, extraordinary circumstances (being at conference, hustle & bustle, getting anyone’s attention as an unknown is certainly extraordinary!), not knowing who to reach out to for answers she resorted to me for an answer. Rather than being a “Rescuer”-my natural tendency, I encouraged her to seek the answer by introducing herself to others backstage. I returned after a few hours to find she met a whole group of nice people that helped her get the answers she was looking for. If I had given her the answer, she wouldn’t have had the opportunity to meet so many incredible people!
