Starting to walk the talk Eric Haynes 31 Mar 2015 00:48 UTC

When we listed our core values, my primary core value was easy: my family. Or so I thought. When my 9-year old (who is perfect, beautiful, and brilliant by the way), asked me "Are you going to Uncle Mike's wedding or do you have to work?", I realized there may be some incongruency. I immediately made some changes. I committed to leaving the office at a certain time every day so that I get home to see my kids before they go to bed. This has helped me be more efficient and effective during the day. If I have to get through 10 things today, then I'm going to stay focused and complete those projects so that I can get home to see my family. I'm leaving about 30 minutes earlier now but I'm using the attention management practices and getting way more work done during the day.
