StrengthsFinder Top 5 Mark Spencer 21 Oct 2018 18:45 UTC

I just took the StrengthsFinder assessment while we are driving back to Dallas from Houston. My top five are Competition, Responsibility, Significance, Achiever and Focus.
These do not surprise me but the fact that that the strategic dimension was on down the list at 18 did very much surprise me as I consider myself to be fairly strategic in nature. I will have to work on that one😄
With respect to my strongest dimension, I am very competitive but in my work life typically strive to find win/win solutions whenever possible. I feel a great sense of accomplishment if I can help facilitate the identification of some common ground and agreement on an issue by trying to understand and appreciate others perspectives and from an internal perspective realize that pushing my position and winning at all costs could result in a suboptimal decision or plan which does not benefit from the power of diversity in thinking.
Responsibility ranked number 2 and that is me. I am very comfortable taking ownership of things and as recommended by Stagen and StrengthsFinder I need to get better and be more comfortable with saying no at times.
My 5th ranked dimension is focus and I have a strong desire to be organized and methodical and focused on developing and managing goals in my business life. One area that I need to adjust with respect to this dimension is to place more focus on the setting and focus of personal goals in my life. For example one of my core values is to maintain a healthy lifestyle. In that value my guiding principals include blocking time for exercise and spending quality time with my family. I am learning that it takes focus to be successful in these areas as well as in the office. Just some initial thoughts prior to reading the report in detail.
