Hello Stagen friends,

I hope you are all doing well.

I am on vacation this week spending time with my kids and wife before school begins next week.

On Monday I had my coaching call with Tony bringing him on board to our sales support department reorg and it came to mind how much of the Stagen tools and concepts have made this go a lot smoother.

In the past if would of thought up an idea and had it implemented without buy in for the people I need support from to ensure we are in alignment for the new change to work.

What I did this time is to develop 6 concepts of how the reorg could take place and presented them to the new sales support team lead who has been working for me for 6 years.  After I presented it I practiced active listening knowing there would be a lot of reasons why this may not work and that it may upset people.  While I was listening I jotted down questions and we reviewed them at the end and agreed to the facts versus presumptions which with a little discussion we agreed to bring my counter part on board and did the same thing, active listening, questions about fact vs perception and it went amazing.

The next step is that the three of us will agree to the departments two objectives and the outline of the responsibility of the roles of the department.  It seemed to go so easy without the push back and arguing when we made it about the facts.   Only at one point someone mentioned that this person would not like the new role, then I asked what should the role be and that person agreed that the role should be what we outline.

I gave our director of sales this week to think about it, shoot holes in it for us to do one last review before presenting to our president and implementing it.  We are then going to do council mode either before the presentation to the president or right after to confirm that we have covered anything.  I recommended to do this after, but the team feels we may need to do this sooner, which I am OK either way and will be in agreement to what we decide.  Either way.
