Hello everyone,
I was able to provide positive feedback to one of my employees this week from a very rough situation.
I was brought on board of the situation on Monday from the director who was involved in the almost confrontation. Once I heard the directors side I asked my employee to explain her side of story as I called her into a meeting room.
After hearing both sides and knowing that this person was junior and had no authority over the director, I went through the SBI with my employee and she loved it. First of all she thought she was in trouble or going to be fired when in brought her in the room. Once I completed it she was so surprised and loved the fact that I recognized her effort and that I even listened to her side of the story.
This has helped me gain trust with this employee, I could tell on Friday the way she spoke to me and responded to me that our relationship is better than before.
What I noticed is that it took a lot of time in this one instance to hear both sides, active listening for 20+ minutes each time, but the result was outstanding. I need to do more of this at work and at home.
Have a great weekend!
