So… I had an opportunity for a “daddy/daughter date night” last weekend with my 14 year old daughter. She had already seen the movie The Greatest Showman and really wanted to go see it again with me. I’m not really a musical kind of guy, but I treasure times with my girls.

So… we grab dinner and head to the movie theater and get there about 10-15 minutes before the movie just to find out that its sold out. The next showing doesn’t start for a few hours and is after 10pm, which won’t work, so I start trying to find another movie theater with an earlier showing. Found one! Started in about 30 mins and is 20 mins away, so off we go! And we made it on time, get our tickets and rush into the theater, just to find out that this is a SING ALONG version…

We get seated and my daughter is on my left, there is a group of teen girls on my right, and a double date of some middle aged (my kind of peeps) people behind me. The theater is pretty full but not sold out. The movie starts and everyone starts stomping their feet and clapping their hands. The girls to my right all start singing, the man behind me is singing like he’s in the shower by himself, and my daughter is looking at my face and laughing. I’m staring straight ahead but there is an expression of shock and nervousness on my face and my eyes are moving from left to right like the old Felix the Cat wall clocks. What did I get myself into???

Well, it was a great movie and I enjoyed the show and the music. Definitely a memorable experience… 😊
