I don't really have any recent mindset immersion trips but there have definitely been times in my life when I ventured into a mindset zone that was uncomfortable for me. Robin and I discussed one such time and she thought I should share.
I have a very strong blue mindset but am also pretty reserved, uptight, etc. My wife is much more relaxed, social, etc. So when we arrived in Hawaii on our honeymoon, the first thing she wanted to do was schedule a massage. I told her to "do it", "great idea", etc. and she said not unless BOTH of us did it. Ugh - I'm definitely not one for massages = too touchy feely for my tastes.
So I call down to the front desk and ask to schedule a massage for each of us. They asked me if I wanted to have it on the beach, and my mind immediately pictured laying out on the beach with everyone watching me get rubbed down - so I told them a very absolute no. So they scheduled us in private rooms. The next morning my wife and I are walking down the stairs to the massage area to find two masseuses waiting - and one of them was a male masseuse. Now... as I already mentioned, I really wasn't looking forward to getting rubbed on, but now I was faced with another dilemma - did I want a strange man rubbing on me or my newlywed wife?! My mind raced and finally came to the conclusion that my wife could have the male masseuse.
The massage wasn't so bad - I chatted with the lady the whole time and learned a lot about her (where she was from, what island life was like, what it was like being a masseuse, etc.). When my wife got finished I asked her how it was and she said it was great. I asked her about her masseuse (where he was from, etc.) and she said "I don't know, I was asleep most of the time!"...
I'm pretty strongly wired, but have a lot of respect for the other mindsets - it's clear that they get to enjoy some things that I don't but wish I did...
Thank you,
Steve
