Unfortunately, I tell myself lots of stories. Sometimes I only climb a little way up the ladder, other times my mind goes all out. Fortunately I have learned to use the "the story I am telling myself" verbiage a lot of the time and this has helped. It's not perfect, but it has made it a lot easier to tell someone how I am feeling/perceiving a situation without putting them on the defense. One other key thing I have learned over time is to pause, pivot, and humble my thought process from my viewpoint (thinking of myself less) and wonder what they are thinking from theirs (thinking of others more). A simple example: One time I passed a friend of mine out about running errands and he barely said hi to me. I immediately thought, "what did I do, why is he made at me?" My wife leaned over and said "I hope everything is ok with him, he didn't seem himself". Really impacted me and made me realize that others need to be my focus.

Thank you,
Steve
