strength finder Luanne Pavco 21 Jun 2017 17:33 UTC

Sunil and Amy - my breakout colleagues today - I promised I would share my strength finder results:
Strategic
Responsibility
Input
Positivity
Futuristic

I am absorbing what these mean but from a general sense think they are fitting results. Now I just want to make sure I find the positive application of these in the new ventures that we are undertaking at Slalom.

Subject: Teaching Smart People How to Learn

I've been digesting the "Teaching Smart People How to Learn" article and as a long time management consultant, you can bet it hits close to home. We've historically been rewarded on being the Knower, especially in front of clients. I've just shared with Paul some "ah has" as I read the article, especially with some challenges my senior leaders are facing. They are all successful people and longtime consulting leaders, but this is the first time that they have had to learn something new and a new way of working in a LONG time. Their frustration from not achieving new targets and milestones (which they thought would be "EASY" just months ago) results in behaviors of looking for problems with Slalom or problems within their teams vs. the introspection within themselves. Paul and I just talked through some techniques to unlock and accelerate their learning - both by observing others in moving through these barriers and also doing a bit of "game filming" around what is working in certain situations and why and dissecting a bit more of the why not (and potentially discarding some old practices). This was a super helpful article in coaching senior, successful people. Definitely recommend!

Happy Summer!
