I had a good experience practicing with the SBI tool this week.
Situation: information we needed for Q3 forecast wasn’t effectively communicated.
Behavior: the team attempted to solve for the issue, but in a way that didn’t strategically align.
Impact: our team’s credibility is undermined.
Question to team member: is this an accurate assessment of where we are? (He agreed it was) What are your thoughts about how to correct this moving forward?
Discussion ensued: my team member owned the situation and had good suggestions about how to rectify. Over the next 2 days he establish process with key business partners that will help solve the communication breakdown moving forward. Also, he thanked me(!) for the feedback and for driving accountability to get into solution.
I am stoked. :)
