My Fellow Stagenites-

I had an instance this week working with one of our managing directors who had asked me to complete a task and prepare an action plan. My initial reaction was that of, oh no, the victim! Doesn't he know I am busy? Doesn't he know that I am new and coming into the process at the last minute? He's being unreasonable, this isn't an important task. After a few minutes of wallowing I realized I was in a victim mindset and needed to become a creator and focus on the outcome I wanted in the situation. Prior to the Drama Triangle exercises the old Rob would have begrudgingly completed the task and been angry for hours or days about the injustice of the situation. Instead, wanting to solve the problem and add clarity to the request, I picked up the phone and had a great phone call with the managing director who clarified his expectation of me and gave me more perspective on the request. We both provided each other with new information relative to project and walked away from the call aligned. I was glad that I chose to be proactive and seek clarity vs. slowly stewing in my victimhood.

Rob
