I am not sure.
One PM has a solid history of public service (albeit corporate beforehand). The marquee name behind the fund probably views it differently (marketing).

So is it a marketing ploy?

Subject: Impact funds
Attending a private equity fund conference where "impact funds" are being discussed. I had not heard of this concept. It's in the similar vein to "green funds" but broader. It's a take on Conscious Capitalism. One fund manager describes this genre as intentional positive impact in terms of sustainable health/wellness, social, and community-based strategies.
Pretty interesting discussion - a lot of focus on metrics, including assessing/measuring impact in addition to economic returns.
