Re: Reflections on Least Resonant Mindset

John - this post resonated with me, having had to deal with power red mindset in the past. It is frustrating. I liked LeeAnn’s comment today about using healthy red to be able to stand up to power red. Hopefully healthy red plus orange, blue and green trumps power red.

I’ve had the (not so pleasurable) pleasure of interacting with the Red mindset lately. I know there are positive manifestations of Red, but these are not going to be examples of such. While I have chosen Blue for my mindset immersion fieldtrip, Red courses of action are the rarest for me to follow.
Person A demands your acknowledgment of their personal power, and is unwilling to concede other viewpoints may be viable. The only way to get them to change their position is by appealing to a higher authority who can force them to go along. They must be right, all the time. They can present a nice veneer when “in public”, but when challenged they turn nasty.
Person B came to me recently to discuss some concerns and to seek input on ways to obtain further career growth. When asked why, they spoke to a desire to learn under different leadership styles. Asked to clarify, they said they believed their current group was run on the basis of fear and survival of the fittest. Some of their group members have embraced this technique, finding glory in pandering to the person in charge while ignoring constructive feedback and even outright orders from mid-level personnel hierarchically above them, as only the top dog’s opinion matters to them (and it would seem, to their comp).
I feel like I was able to counsel Person B in a reasonable manner, and at a minimum point them to other leaders in the organization who follow a different mindset. As for Person A, I am increasingly unable to constructively interact with them.
