To follow up on my comments from the call today, here are some pictures from the event (one with a fighter from the event). I actually do watch MMA fighting on TV, but have never gone to a live event. I was apprehensive as the 2 times I went out to a bar to watch MMA with friends, I had bad experiences: I was once verbally accosted/abused by a guy who thought I had cut him off driving into the parking lot, and the second time I saw a fight almost develop between a guy and a girl who were strangers but standing next to each other. So I definitely had some pre-conceived assumptions/stereotypes about the crowd at these types of events.

Here were some interesting things that happened:

- As we were in line to get in, a guy dressed like one of the Jersey Shore characters and his girlfriend pulled up in a red Lamborghini (my Lambo was unfortunately being washed, so I had shamelessly taken my 11-year old family minivan).

- The fighters we talked to were an insurance adjuster (from the picture) and an IT guy. Perfectly normal looking (albeit really fit) people with conventional jobs, but they obviously had some red in their mindsets/personalities. The insurance adjuster said that when she fights, she has to subvert her caring/thoughtful side and just focus on beating her opponent.

- The crowd itself was pretty diverse. Although there were definitely a lot of people that looked like they embraced red mindsets (tattoos, leather, flamboyant attire, etc.), there were also many people that looked pretty normal, even families that brought their kids (don't judge - I bet their kids will beat up your honor student kids). Our group didn't really stick out.

- It's definitely more fun to watch live than on TV - the music, the energy of the crowd, and the intimacy make the event so much more real.

Overall, it was a really fun evening and I enjoyed spending time with Christine, Jordan, and Seth. I also think perhaps my original mindset self-assessment may be wrong - maybe I do have a little red mindset in me as well. Just don't expect me to step into a cage anytime soon - I can't handle the pain.
