Yvonne - glad you like it! I was afraid your post was going to be about you finding me in a drama triangle earlier today 😉 I will keep practicing my recalibration!! I love this, Nicola – for more than one reason. First, it creates dialogue as you said, but it also teaches them to reflect on their actions on a daily basis. Since you ask those questions daily, it just becomes a habit for them. What’s hard is to remember the positive and to enjoy and reflect on things when they go well. I always ask my girls every day when we come back together after a long day two questions: (1) What was your favorite thing about you day today or something that really made you happy? and (2) if you could back and change something that happened today or do something differently in response, what is it, if anything? It makes for a great dialogue and elicits answers that aren’t just yes or no. But as I think about it, this is a type of “performance journaling” that I do with my daughters and I should ask myself the same questions at the end of each day too more often. Sometimes they ask me those questions back, and I’m always glad when they do. Perhaps because I am looking to journal negative, emotionally charged situations, and I seem to be better about avoiding the DDT at work than at home. I am going to try journaling some positive situations from work. -Scott From: ironlady@stagen.simplelists.com<mailto:ironlady@stagen.simplelists.com> [mailto:ironlady@stagen.simplelists.com] On Behalf Of Browning, Jeff Sent: Friday, July 21, 2017 1:09 PM To: 'ironlady@stagen.simplelists.com<mailto:ironlady@stagen.simplelists.com>' <ironlady@stagen.simplelists.com<mailto:ironlady@stagen.simplelists.com>> Subject: RE: Performance Journaling I find the emotional aspect of performance journaling to be true in my experience as well. I realize that my temper can easily get out of control (primarily at home). I also find that I’m focusing more on intense situations and circumstances, and not in more everyday activities. When having my coaching call with Seth yesterday, he challenged me to (1) post more e-journals since the act of writing/typing helps the brain crystalize the concepts we’re discussing and practicing and (2) engage in performance journaling with my goals for the Stagen program in mind. So here I am doing #1, and will actively seek opportunities for the second.
