Primary and Secondary Mindset

I find that I vacillate between Green and Orange mindsets on a fairly frequent basis. While much of what I do is driven by an orange mindset - constantly trying to do more, accumulate more, achieve greater levels of success - I also find that the orange mindset unchecked leaves me unfulfilled. The more time I spend in green, the greater my life happiness. If I'm using my orange urges to effect change for my senior management in their lives; or to improve my community and contribute to the greater good; or if I'm developing projects to achieve an end outside of strict financial return - I find that I am much happier.
Ultimately, I am primarily an orange mindset I guess. I feel like that's a product of how success has always been defined in my life - both personally and in society at-large. And I play to those expectations because I want to win and I strive to be the best at what I do. However, green is definitely a strong second. I've managed to achieve a fair amount of professional success, but the material, status-driven happiness from that success is fleeting. The greater joy comes from the green opportunities it affords me - more time spent with my wife and kids, the opportunity to travel and show my kids the world, the ability to create opportunities for others and focus on making a difference. Hopefully, I can achieve a healthy balance between the two long term.
