Active Listening or was I? David Dozier (DFW) 04 May 2017 14:57 UTC

Can you say, Jedi Mind Flip.

I started the active listening practice with my daughter. Opening question was, "I'm excited about you taking some classes this summer. Tell me about your schedule?"

She responds, "I'm taking Sociology from 9am-12pm and Modern Mathematics from 6-8pm everyday from Mon - Thursday."

I said, "that's great. Do you think you can work as well?" She replies," I doubt it, did you listen to what I told you". I replied, "what I hear you saying is."....she interrupted me and said "no, you didn't hear me say anything or you wouldn't be asking me to repeat it. Dad you need to listen to what I tell you the first time so you don't have to make me repeat myself. What you heard me say is exactly what I said. Do you recall what I said?

I stated laughing and walked away and said..."how are you paying for those classes?" Just kidding.
