Sharing my thoughts on Dabble, Obsessive, and Hacker.

Dabbler - This relates more to my personal life. I dabble in hobbies. Recently, I tried mountain biking. I bought the gear and almost bought a bike. I went one time. Long story short, one of my bosses moved the time up 2 hours (we were supposed to go at 5 and due to the incoming rain forecast, he changed the time to 3. I ate a big, late lunch that day. It was hot and humid. The loner bike was too small for someone 6' 3". I have lots of excuses here. Anyways I threw up after the 10 mile bike ride. I decided to take a breather. Then I discovered that there are tons of snakes on the trails. Well...I remembered that I fell off my bike twice during my initial run into brush each time. I don't like snakes...so I began this journey excited and all in but quickly fizzled.

Obsessive - I relate to this one the most out of the three. I almost always tend to overdo it when learning a new skill right out of the gate. Having score as an Achiever on the Gallup Strengths test, I can see why I am most tied to the Obsessive. The one difference is that I due stick with things. I don’t stop. My issue is that I want to always build Rome in one day. I am way too hard on myself when I don't. Patience is not a virtue that I was born with, but that's ok. I'm learning...

Hacker - I relate to being a Hacker when I am learning something new where I have little interest in learning in the first place. This is more attitude than anything though. I have learned over the past few years to be much more open minded, to listen, and to not judge until I've completed thorough due diligence.

Good evening Homer.

Back in the 90's I began reading tech investment periodicals and eventually began investing in early stage tech firms. I invested in a few stocks that grew quickly. One was Seible Systems. I encouraged a few friends to also invest in Seible. We all made out well.

In an effort to balance my stock portfolio I sold mt Seible stock for a handsome profit. I invested in some additional tech stocks and a privately held company that was preparing for an IPO? The market went south and Kwesi took an unpleasant bath. The novelty wore off & Kwesi "dabbler" tech investor moved on to the next big thing.

In the 90's my brother introduce me to what he characterized as a great opportunity. I could be the lead angel investor in his Internet company EduFool. I obsessively read every book I could get my hands on about angel investing in the digital economy. The investment never gained traction and I eventually grew weary from the research and angel investing.

While pursuing my black in MuayThai Kickboxing I noticed a few people rolling and grappling on the mat. I decided to try it and found it to be enjoyable and a great source of exercise. Unfortunately I could only afford to dedicate one night pet week to the jui-jitsu class noticed my friends in the class who engaged in purposeful practice began to dominate me on the map.they were clearly I proving as a result of their purposeful practice while my hacker approach subjected me to spending the night in my opponents guard desperately trying to defend their submission attempts while hoping the bell would ring signaling the end of the round.

Enjoy your evening

Kwesi
