Strength: Learner Ricardo Campos 19 Oct 2019 20:13 UTC

Hello Hemingway! I’m looking forward to seeing all of you next week.

The strength I chose to reflect on is Learner. It came up as my number 4 in the assessment. What I’ve noticed is that the older I get the more I enjoy learning. I wish my appetite for learning was this strong during my college years! ha ha. The description of the theme is spot on. I do get energized by the steady and deliberate journey from ignorance to competence. I love learning especially on topics that peak my interest. Once I chose a subject to learn, I tend to go full throttle until I’ve become competent in the subject. As the theme description states, I don’t seek to become a SME on every subject. I’ve also noticed that it drives me a bit nuts when I see other people either doing something incorrectly, such as technique, or when an instructor is allowing bad technique to continue and doesn’t make an effort to correct the student. For example, I recently started taking indoor cycling classes. You’re supposed to keep your weight centered over your core so that you don’t add unnecessary pressure to your knees. You can injure yourself. So when I see a bunch of people leaning forward and not balancing their weight on the bike, I fight the urge to give them a tip on form because I feel like its not my place, particularly when the instructor is not offering providing instruction on proper technique. Patience is not one of my strengths however I’m constantly working on it.
