I have made mention of this to a few people that as a salesman (CEO) I find it difficult to time block my day at work, or focus on one type of task (Phone ups, walk ups, chat, follow ups, etc.) A large part of the reason that I get to work an hour or so early on my early days is because no one is so that I can focus on one task at a time without a million little internal and external distractions. Between 8-9, I am able to time block that time and focus on follow ups to leads. After that, if I were to focus on just chat, or just phones, or just walk ups, I would be loosing out on possible sales opportunities. I suppose you could just categorize that time as "lead generation" but that almost seems like cheating the system of focusing on one task. One thing I can say though is that when I am trying to balance several plates at a time at work, I recognize it. I know react quickly to being in a "multitasking mode" and I quickly take stock of everything I am trying to do, prioritize, and execute. Like Austin Mentioned, it all goes back to awareness and the discipline to make a committed action to change.
