Here is one of my guiding principles:

Abiding Union.  My relationships with God, family, friends and colleagues are my top priority.  I invest my most focused time, presence and attention daily with the people who matter most to me through centering prayer, conversation and electronic communication.  I love as they want to be loved.  I strive to develop the skills and characteristics that foster relationships through deliberate practices such as loving kindness meditation and compassion cultivation.  Nothing matters more than relationships.
