Hey team, I’ve been out of pocket for the last few weeks with the infamous flu, then a relapse, while hosting an all hands meeting with leaders from Amazon. And unfortunately
have fallen behind in many areas of my life, including our weekly practices. I just got off the phone with Maryellen who helped me get back on track – to which I am very grateful.
I’ve been practicing the one thing at a time method, but always have the tendency to constantly check my email on my phone. We hosted an all-day RFP process with four pr firms to help come in to take some of the burden off me and my team,
so I tried to employ the single task method and I struggled. My thoughts wondered about what was in my inbox, calls I was missing, projects I needed to catch up on. But I spent the day trying to be in the proactive zone to pay attention so I can make the right
decision in hiring the right firm and have help in the long run.
Drama Triangle
I often become defensive when I feel like my capability to do my job is in question. And I was very defensive with my boss when he was providing feedback on a project. I found myself in the Victim mode. But I know I can I can act differently
by taking a minute, not interrupting the other person, then pause again…take time to reflect...maybe ask for some time to think about it to respond later.
Complaint- I don’t like being criticized
What do I want- I want to be able to receive feedback without getting triggered, so I can consider what they are saying.
Do - pause take time, don’t interrupt.
This gives the opening to ask questions.
