Leadership Styles - Collaborative

From a leadership perspective, I suppose that if I had to pick one, it would be Collaborative.
Don’t get me wrong, I am collaborative from the base or foundation of Authoritarian. Let me explain: At the end of the day, it is MY name on the line, it is MY neck on the line. So in the end, what I say goes. With that understood, getting to what I say is often through collaboration. I want my people to buy-in, and in order to have the buy-in, I work with them, listen to their different perspectives, and we often make decisions together. I want to have as many perspectives as make sense on solving a problem or implementing a new procedure. My company is growing and flourishing by allowing it to run this way. What is equally important to me is that I don’t have to be brought into and be a part of each decision that is made. I teach them how to make decisions and to gather multiple perspectives, and then get out of the way. This enables me to work on the business instead of in the business.
With that all said, There are times when all the different colors or styles come in to play….or to work.
Thanks, Brock
