active listening learning - slowing down to speed up

> my learning is this — i have a well ingrained habit of “listening to respond”, especially when i’m in problem solving mode (which is my default state at work). my learning is that i've realized when i take a more conscious active listening stance, i.e. asking questions, letting the other person talk, holding my opinions/thoughts (this is hard!) — while it may seem (painfully) “slower" in the moment, my relationship with that person actually deepens, and overall things speed up and/or have constructively grown beyond what they were before. i’ve noticed this with at least 2 people very close to me.
