Fact: I am an co-owner and board member of a Canadian publishing company called Carle. I get on a call weekly with the CEO and all day quarterly with the team.

Observation: Being at a distance and not in the day to day operations, I can't have the impact on the business that I want to. I let the CEO drive the meetings and I am responsive and supportive of the issues/projects he focuses on.

Conclusion: The story I am telling myself, is that the ultimate success or failure of the business is significantly out of my hands. I am invested with money and time in a venture where I don't have control.

The story I want to be telling myself is that I can challenge and coach the CEO and team without being "on the field". That my leadership drives the current and future success of the business.

Pretty simple, but I just had my weekly check-in and already I feel the energy shift by calling attention to the story I was telling myself.
