Recalibration has been an important exercise for me to add into my daily regimen.
At the start of Q1 I was working hard to take 10 minutes once or twice a day to meditate. Sometimes it was guided and other times it was just me and my breath. I found it incredibly challenging to be able to sit still at focus on my breath for 10 minutes. It wasn’t until Tony recommended to not start with 10 minutes but to start with just 10 breaths....game changer.
I find myself doing 10 breaths multiple times throughout the day. When I get into the car, before I walk into a meeting, after a phone call that triggered me. It’s really been an important step to slowing my heart rate and my thoughts down and operating throughout the day more like myself.
I will do guided meditations from time to time and I enjoy them but I still can’t hold my focus to my breath for that length of time and the voice, while soothing can be distracting. I often play some easy ambient music in the background which calms my nerves.
Thanks,
Jake
