Jake,

You are not alone on this one. When I put physical fitness on the initial 2x2 draft I sent to Tony we had an interesting conversation.

I have lifted weights for years and enjoy the challenge of it; however, I was struggling to consistently integrate cardio and stretching into my routine. A gap still exists but not nearly as large as the one I started with. I have allowed myself to settle for something less than perfect in exchange for progress. For me, that means running 10-12 miles each week and attending the occasional spin class with the wife.

I still have miles to go on the stretching piece. I will try yoga soon in an effort to stay off the foam roller - that thing is a torture device.

Thanks,
DM

For most of this year I really have been ignoring my guiding principle of Wellness by not being inspired by health. There are certain values and principles that I have been able successful at leaning more into this year, for example Relationships and Family. However, I just cannot get inspired to get myself out there and get myself “fit”. I admire those who find fitness in their daily life and want to be there but have not been successful at pushing myself into an acceptable routine.

I recently joined a climbing gym and a few weeks into rock climbing I have found a form of fitness that keeps me focused and that I have seen steady improvements with each time I go into the gym. I don’t believe the issue is that I am NOT inspired by health and fitness but rather I have not found the right form of exercise that keeps me wanting to go back and yearning to improve. Hopefully I found it here and I can begin to close this gap that has left me unsatisfied.

    Thanks,
